This entry is part 3 of 3 in the series Learning to Feel

In the last post in this series we discussed the difference between feelings and emotions.  To summarize, a feeling is a direct sensation, or experience, that you have, like the sensation of flesh being crushed if you pinch yourself.  It is something that you experience with your senses, whether physical or non-physical.  An emotion, on the other hand, is a mental reaction to that sensation or experience that creates its own physiological sensations and can compound itself into an intense experience that is completely out of proportion to the triggering event.

We also discussed how you can’t change what you feel, but by becoming aware of your thoughts and mental reactions, you can change your emotions.  Before you can get very far with that though, you need to understand the difference between you and your mind. Continue reading »

 

I want to report in on what I’m learning about the whole “mind lock” and games theme.  First, I’ve made a personal commitment to journal on a regular basis.  I realize that insights are somewhat fleeting if I don’t stop and absorb them.  Truly I believe the whole point of looking into these patterns in our lives is to create greater awareness, to expand consciousness and then to appreciate the fact that we are constantly growing and changing.  The changes are so small at times, we don’t realize that they add up to big differences.  Just think about who you are today versus the person you were a year ago. The so-called law of attraction has become one of the biggest sacred cows of the New Age movement.  But it is based on a wonderful truth, so it’s time we tear down the statue of stone it has become and rediscover what it is really about.

The first thing we need to understand is that the law of attraction does not exist.  That’s right, the law of attraction does not exist.  Oh, I can already hear the howls of protest and the screams of “heresy” among my New Age friends!  But hear me out, for what we’re going to discuss can make you a much more effective creator.
